Rikki-tikki-tavi

Rikki-tikki-tavi

“This is the story of the great war that Rikki-tikki-tavi fought single-handed, through the bathrooms of the big bungalow in Segowlee cantonment.”

Kipling’s ‘The Jungle Book’ was one of my favourites as a child, and the mongoose Rikki-tikki-tavi was, for my money, the most awesome of the characters. I even gave a shout-out to him in one of my published short stories.

I recently came across the illustrations of Robert Ingpen for the whole book. Amazing, lush and breath-taking.

He captured the essence of Rikki in this full page illustration.
