The Sedentary Work-Life Imbalance

Sketch in pencil. From the Dublin Zoo.

Sometimes work gets so busy that you lose balance. There’s an old cliche about working to live rather than living to work. That may be a false dichotomy, but there’s something to be said for making sure that one aspect of life doesn’t overwhelm the other.

This week I haven’t drawn, written or played music. I basically let the poetry suffer because I’ve been busy at work. I didn’t exercise and I ate mostly junk food. I’m drinking something carbonated as I write this.

I need to do better. I need to work harder at my play.

It’s Friday.  I pledge to exercise, cook proper meals, drink only water and make bad art.
